Join us as we come together to
help each other and our children
understand that life is about
more than stuff.
What a great message as we head
into the holidays!
Do you think the world would be a better place if we all refocused a bit?
Your chance to refocus is upon you!
A couple of months ago, we had a chance to attend what is called a Hunger Banquet.
At a Hunger Banquet, the place where you sit, and the meal you eat,
are determined by the luck of the draw.
The attendees are divided the way the earth’s population is divided,
with very few people eating at the “fancy table.”
Another fairly small percentage is seated at the “middle class” table.
And the majority of people, well, the truth is they eat where the majority of the
world’s people eat. And, they eat what the majority of the world’s people eat.
During the meal, narrators tell an interactive story.
It is beyond powerful.
This event is coming to New Berlin, Wisconsin!
RSVP Required. Click here to register.
Join us. Bring your friends. Bring your children.
When: Sunday, October 4, 2015 1:45 pm-3:45 pm
Cost: $10 per person (a small amount to teach such an important lesson). ALL money paid will be donated to ALDEA, an organization working to reduce chronic childhood malnutrition in Guatemalan Mayan Guatemalacommunities. Guatemala has the fourth highest rate of chronic malnutrition in the world. (Donations are tax deductible.)
Sponsored by Marija Bjegovich-Weidman, Alena Weidman & The Ties Program
Important: The woman and child pictured do not have the gaunt look of starving people. The reality is Mayan families live on a staple of tortillas served with salt, and Coca Cola, which is heavily marketed to them.
They do not have a shortage of calories, but there is no nutrition in their food source.
The “face of hunger” has changed dramatically.
And that’s only part of the problem.
