India Ties Highlights:

Our journey begins in Delhi and continues on by train to Agra to see the Taj Mahal.  From there, we travel to the beautiful pink city of Jaipur where we ride elephants among other things.  Along the way we will eat fabulous Indian food, see women in exquisite saris, explore India’s colorful markets and fall in love with the Indian people, rich in beauty and kindness.

India Ties at International Mission of Hope Calcutta Adoption TravelEach family will have time during the trip to visit their child’s orphanage and/or place of birth or founding.*  Many families will visit Calcutta and the former location of International Mission of Hope.  Others will venture to Pune, Cochin, Madras, Bangalore, and other fabulous places that hold special meaning for their family.  All will experience profound moments in their lives.

We will also have time for kids to be kids – playing a pick-up game of soccer or cricket and of course shopping!  Finding the perfect sari is always fun.

Adoption professionals travel with all of the Indian Ties programs to facilitate "Connect & Chat" for the kids, and Talk Time for parents.  We believe this is a critical part in understanding all of the complexities that India’s culture and history presents and how it all relates to adoption.

We are fortunate to have wonderful guides in India who share their country, their culture and their lives with us. Traveling with them creates the kind of journey that will build friendships that last a lifetime.  You'll quickly learn, this is not a tour. This is a life experience full of opportunities for family bonding and individual identity building.

"...the trip was so much fun!  I had a lot of fun getting to know all the kids and seeing my birth city and foster mom.  Thanks so much for arranging all of it!"

    ~Hilary Laarman, 16

"Our family went on the India Ties trip this past winter.   I have been wanting to let you know what a wonderful experience this trip was for us…it exceeded our expectations.  Our American escorts and the guides in India were excellent.  Our questions, no matter how many, were always answered patiently and knowledgeably.  The other families on the trip were easy and fun to travel with.  The highlight for all of us was going to Michelle Harrison's where my daughter was reunited with her massie.  I always thought it would be important for Priya to travel to India for so many reasons.  What I hadn't realized was how much it would mean to me to see where she was from and meet the women who took such good care of her and amazingly still remembered her."

~The Marshall-Ebenal Family

"...going to India with The Ties Program was the best decision we made since marriage and adoption.  Having all the kids in their same situation was what made this trip as memorable as it was for our kids and contributed greatly to their positive impressions of their birth country.  A close second was how sweet the foster mothers were - each of our two kids left their meeting with their foster mothers convinced that they were not only remembered but loved in their first months of life - thank you for all your efforts on our behalf."

     ~Kathryn Trudeau

"Thanks for putting together such a wonderful trip.  It was an experience that changed how I look at the world."

"Your sensitivity to the needs of the children was so evident throughout the trip.  Tina came away with such a warm feeling for her heritage and a special bond with the kids who traveled with us."

       ~Nan Gray
