Colombia Ties Highlights:

  • Visiting people and places important in the life of your child
  • Ties Program "Connect & Chat" and “Talk Times"
  • Child Friendly & "Adoption Aware"

We are thrilled to be opening Colombia Ties! Together, we will see the sights, eat delicious food, and learn about Colombia’s vibrant culture. Traveling to Bogota, we’ll visit Monserrate, taking a teleferico up the mountain to see a spectacular view of the city. Then, enjoy time in the historic colonial neighborhood of La Candelaria as well as the Hacienda Santa Coloma Coffee Plantation.

Colombia Heritage TourWe will travel to Zipaquira, home to the incredible Salt Mine Cathedral. Then on to Villa de Leyva to explore the quaint cobblestone streets, and Chicaque National Park, where we will see lots of interesting animals in the wild, including monkeys!

If you’d like, you can make a difference by doing service work for a day. We are happy to make the arrangements via our sister organization World Ties, as we begin to establish Project Kindness-Colombia.

At the centerpiece of the journey is time to meet people and visit places important to your family.  Reconnect in Bogota or return to the city where your child was born. The Ties Program is happy to tailor these important visits to each family’s needs.

Some of your best memories of the trip will come from the people you meet along the way.  Sharing a park bench with someone or negotiating a sale with an artisan makes the journey interesting.  Your family is sure to remember the students we play with at our school visit and the artisans in Usaquen. And of course if you want to play a futból game or two, that is easy enough to arrange in Colombia.

A Colombian national guide will travel with you throughout the journey.  This person’s insight, warmth and knowledge is sure to enrich your experience.  These encounters and others instill a new sense of pride in the children. Plus the friendships that grow make it that much more fun and meaningful. There is really no way to overstate the importance of kids traveling with other kids, and with the adults who love them in the wings supporting their need to explore their birth country.
